My name is Steven Spencer and I am the manager at Village Court Apartments. I am writing this letter of recommendation on the behalf of San Juan Contracting. John has been working at VCA for the past two years and with me for the past year on an extensive remodeling project.

Over that time, John has done everything up to the expectations of what we have needed here. He has gone out if his way to make sure whatever problems that came up was addressed and fixed accordingly.

John has also made sure that any warranty work is taken care of and have never had a problem with him coming back to fix such work.
I would and will use San Juan Contracting on other projects that we have here at VCA.

John has done a very good job for us on a small bathroom/laundry area. He kept in touch with us as the job progressed and he got the vendor of the vanity to expedite the delivery, saving a couple of weeks. He worked with us to allow some of the less critical work be done by us, saving substantially on the overall cost. He made every effort to complete the job promptly. We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend him.

I have had John do several projects in and around our house. During that time, I have watched him be responsible and oversee the crews, vendors and craftsmen to build a million dollar home. He spends extra time with associates to ensure safety concerns and best practices are followed to deliver quality results. His meticulous attention to detail exceeds expectations and assures satisfied customers.

I was immediately confident that John was trustworthy and gave him access to our house many times while we were away traveling. He has been willing to bail us out of several emergency situations at any time of day or night.

Rather than just do a job, he has excellent suggestions for enhancements or completely different solutions, which are even better. Plus he has the business contacts to get necessary products and quick results.

John is very methodical and analytical when he works. Doesn’t say a lot, but when he does you listen. Plus he takes the time to explain things to a layperson.

I have known John Dutra now for over three years as the general contractor on my house remodeling project. Initially he worked with my husband to design and then to start building the extension we had planned. After the major work was done, my husband continued alone until he had a fatal accident, at which time John stepped forward and took over the project to ensure it was completed successfully. This took several months of his time at a much reduced cost, and sub-contractors working under his supervision. I could never have done it alone,
either in terms of the work or the expense. John is diligent, creative, generous, and reliable, and has always completed projects in a way that I have been very pleased with.

Months after the remodeling project had been completed, when the pipes on my water heater sprung a leak just when it started to get cold in November), he did not hesitate to assess the problem and then quickly recommend, purchase, and install a new water heater. In the process he suggested a modification to its placement such that it would run much more efficiently. This is very characteristic of him; something I greatly appreciate. Later he remodeled the bathroom which had been severely damaged as a result of the water heater problem.

Recently (in January of this year) he responded to my Friday evening call about frozen water pipes with a full Saturday of his time crawling under the house to provide an interim solution that has worked until a more permanent solution can be put in place. Elk Meadows is quite a way from Montrose, John's home base, ,but (he has' never hesitated to come to my assistance as well as that of others in the area. I can highly recommend John for anything he signs up to do.
